New Delhi: Even as he is packing bags for his maiden visit to India on February 24 and 25, a new survey has found that many Indians like Donald Trump as the US President, but not as a businessman.
Days before he lands in India, PEW Research Center released survey data sharing opinions of 2,476 Indians to this effect. According to it, popularity of Trump in India is steadily increasing. Nearly 56% of Indians surveyed have confidence in Trump who, they say, takes necessary steps at international level.
His popularity in India is due to his being the US President, not due to some of his policies and strategy with regards to the Indo-American trade. These Indians do not want to see President Trump as a businessman.
Trump’s popularity in India since his candidacy in 2016 has jumped from 14% to 56% in the last three years. As against 67% Indians in 2016, only 30% do not want to share their opinions now.
