Mumbai: In a surprise move, nearly 100 customs officials posted at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai, were transferred with “immediate effect”, reports said on Monday.
By an order dated November 22, 14 of these officials were “rotated/transferred” in Group A, in the grade of Assistant/Deputy Commissioners of Customs, 37 Air Customs Officers, and many Air Customs Superintendents and others.
This is seen as probably the first such case of mass transfers in the key department in Mumbai.
The reason behind the exercise could not be ascertained immediately.
