Congress president Rahul Gandhi Tuesday took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his remarks that cloud cover “helped” IAF planes evade Pakistani radars during the Balakot strikes.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi in Neemuch, MP: Narendra Modi told officers and Air Chief of Air Force, “It’ll be beneficial, radar won’t be able to track aircraft in bad weather”. Narendra Modi ji, whenever it rains in India, do all the aircraft disappear from the radar?

The Congress president also made a veiled reference to the interaction between the PM and Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar in which Modi revealed that he loved mangoes as a child and still loves them. “Modi ji, you taught (us) how to eat mangoes; now tell the country what you did for jobless youth,” he said.

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his “cloud-radar” theory at a rally in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore. While addressing a gathering, Priyanka Gandhi said that PM Modi is such a “defence expert that he thought, the weather is cloudy and the planes won’t come on radars”.

Priyanka Gandhi also attacked PM Modi on the Rafale deal. She said, “He is such a defence expert that he himself decided who will manufacture planes, he decided those who have never made a plane in their lives will make it.”

Urmila Matondakar, the Congress Candidate from Mumbai North on Monday joined the mass trolls occurring on PM Radar Comment. Taking to Twitter, the Congress leader posted a picture of her pet dog and said, “Thank God for the clear sky and no clouds so that my pet Romeo’s ears can get the clear RADAR signals.”

“The weather suddenly turned bad, there were clouds… heavy rain. There was a doubt about whether we can go in the clouds. During a review (of the Balakot plan), by and large the opinion of experts was – what if we change the date. I had two issues in mind. One was secrecy… second, I said I am not someone who knows the science. I said there is so much cloud and rain. There is a benefit. I have a raw wisdom, the clouds can benefit us too. We can escape the radar. Everyone was confused. Ultimately I said there are clouds let’s proceed,” he had said in an interview by TV channel News Nation on Saturday.

Mocking PM Modi’s remarks, senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal had tweeted, “Balakot secret revealed by Modi : “ I thought there are clouds , we can escape radar . Ok , go ahead , chal pade “ Gave clarity to experts confused about launching in bad weather What a leader , what a mind ! We now know that : No radar can penetrate Modi’s clouded mind !”

Earlier today, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray took a potshot at PM Modi and said that the United Nations (UN) has now announced that countries should go to war during monsoon only.
